Can't rate this experience highly enough. Went twice, first time out of curiosity. The attention to detail of the fort and models of Roman life is exceptional. The second time we went back to see the mock battle between the Romans and the Barbarians. It was very entertaining and made all the more enjoyable by the enthusiasm of the warriors and in particular the owner Max. The food at the battle was very reasonable and delicious. DON'T MISS THIS EXPERIENCE it's well worth the visit for adults and children.
Worth the trip from Doolin in Ireland.
We took the short drive to a reconstructed Roman marching fort now used as a museum and living history exhibit. There was also a small animal zoo too.
The camp was quite small but had all the elements laid out to show what life would have been like for the soldiers with plenty of information boards in English too. We had a quick run through by Mattheo and then wandered on our own. The models in the museum were great and had real attention to detail and showed how the Romans built bridges and roads using the technology of the day. We had a demonstration of firing a ballista too and then had a chat about the summer camps they run to educate kids about their history.
The animal park had a good selection of animals but we didn't have any food for them so, other than the dog, they weren't that interested in us! Goats are fascinating creatures too.
Wonderful experience! Amazingly rebuilt roman fort, gives you a great insight on what the life was for the roman soldiers. The master builder behind this project was also our guide and gave us great explanation. Go and support him in this beautiful project!
Great experience!
We had a good time with my family there.
We recommend you to select the guide tour, he is excellent and explain you with passion the life in a roman camp.
Our dog was super happy as well, he was running and playing with the dogs there around the camp.
Magnificent place, at a wonderful location, run by passionate people! Highly recommended when you stay in the area of Alghero, Porto Torres and Sassari :-)
Very interesting open air museum focused on Roman military history. Good for medium aged kids an adults. All friendly staff. There also is a zoo with lovely animals. Little bar with cold drinks and icecream. Everything reasonable priced. Last but not least a big and save parking lot just in front. Definetly a must go.
We came because of our interest in history but we not only enjoyed a great recreation of a roman fort with lovely little details but also the landscape as well as the enthusiastic hosts who made this a mesmerising trip. Truly a 10/10 experience. (And the dog is very cute.) Grazie mille und vielen Dank!
Excellent stop for an in depth view of a Roman fort. Maximiliano and his wife have recreated minute details and provide knowledgeable explanations (in English if necessary) of the life inside a fort with replicas of tools, clothes and weaponry. Fascinating and worth the visit.
